About the authors

Carlotta Hacker, who lives in London, Ontario, has written more than 20 books, many of them for children. They include The Book of Canadians which was awarded the Children's Book Centre Choice, and The Kids Book of Canadian History. She also edits, under her married name Carlotta Lemieux, and was Consulting and Contributing Editor of the The Junior Encyclopedia of Canada.

John Mantha is a Toronto-based artist and illustrator. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, he graduated with honours from the Ontario College of Art. John is the illustrator of twenty-six books including The Kids Book of Canada's Railway and The Kids Book of Canadian Exploration.
