Description

This first collection of poems by Hong Kong-born May Chan is a moving song from Chan to her mother, to her mother's abiding courage and strength and love, to her mother's willful struggle to nourish her family, even in destitution. Deft, spare and bright, these poems are offered in their original English, accompanied by Chinese "grace notes."
