The delightful rhyming tale by first-time author Gillian B. Davies is memorable and affirmative and guaranteed to entertain. Artist Grant Leier's brilliantly coloured illustrations are filled with hidden detail and the gleeful exuberance of the audacious title character.
About the authors
Born in St. Boniface, Manitoba and raised in the Rocky Mountain towns of Canmore and Banff, Alberta, Gillian B. Davies grew up in a house full of exotic pets, from cobras to raccoons. These close encounters with animals provide a rich foundation for her writing for children, including the creation of the remarkable Robertson Rat. Gillian B. Davies now lives with her husband and three children and a dog in Courteney, British Columbia. Robertson Rat is her first book
Born in Lloydmister, Saskatchewan, Grant Leier studied at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary and the Illustrators Workshop in New York. As well as studying illustration, Leier is proficient as a painter and is known for his work with textiles. Leier has had numerous solo exhibitions in Canada and California with paintings, textiles and assemblages featured in important group exhibitions in public and private galleries. Leier lives near Ladysmith, British Columbia with painter Nixie Barton and their son Grayson. This is his first illustrated book.
