Description
"We are requested by many young women and young bachelor readers to assist them in getting acquainted with each other with a view to matrimony. Whilst we are not conducting a matrimonial agency, we are most willing to assist in a proper manner to bring those who are matrimonially inclined together."
- The Editor, Western Home Monthly
Looking for love in the local newspaper's personal columns has a long history. Author Dan Azoulay has collected letters published in the "Correspondence" columns of the Western Home Monthly between 1905 and 1924 in this fascinating look at romance in the early Canadian West. Through these letters, lonely and isolated readers made connections, exchanged opinions on issues of the day, and sometimes, found their perfect match.
