Description
This is a collection of more than a dozen essays by scholars interested in how the lives of men and women are affected by politics. The book adopts no specific ideology, although its authors share the view that Canadian society and polity still treat men and women unequally. The authors, from eleven universities across Canada, represent the disciplines of Communications, Ethics, Political Science, HIstory, and Sociology. Most (but not all) are women, including well-known academics such as Caroline Andrew, Sandra Burt, Micheline Dumont, Roberta Hamilton, GertrudeRobinson, David Northrup, and Alan Whitehorn. Many of the chapters were presented at recent learned conferences and have been revised for inclusion in this text.

Contributor Notes
Francois-Pierre Gingras is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Ottawa, and is Chair of the Faculty of Social Sciences. He received his PhD in Sociology from the Universite Rene Descartes in Paris and is a former French editor of the Canadian Journal ofPolitical Science.
