Canadians often imagine their country as a multicultural democracy, while a few go further to claim that the country's diversity can be characterized as multinational in its social and institutional make-up. Alain-G. Gagnon is a professor and the Canada Research Chair in Quebec and Canadian Studies in the Department of Political Science at the Université du Québec à Montréal. He is the author or editor of more than fifty books.
