Set in Winnipeg in August, 1945, Fifteen Miles of Broken Glass is Tom Hendry’s look at post-World War II Canada from a recent high-school graduate’s viewpoint. The play was commissioned for and broadcast over English language CBC-TV in the series Festival in September of 1966. Subsequently, it has had several theatre productions. Cast of two women and nine men.
About the author
Tom Hendry
Tom Hendry was born in Winnipeg in 1929 where he founded the Manitoba Theatre Centre in 1958.
He was the first Literary Manager at the Stratford Festival in 1969 and 1970. In 1971 he co-founded the Playwrights Co-Op, now the Playwrights Union of Canada. He also served as co-founder and head of the Banff Playwrights Colony from 1974 to 1976 and since 1985 has been a consulting policy director for the Ontario Arts Council. His play, Fifteen Miles of Broken Glass (1975) won a Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Medal.
