Bolters
I first learned of "bolters" through Nancy Mitford's The Pursuit of Love, whose narrator lives with her cousins because her mother ("the bolster") has abandoned her. Bolters remain fascinating and complicated characters in literature, both fictional and non. Here are some memorable bolters in CanLit.
