Contenders, Too is a list created by 49th Shelf community members, authors, book media personalities, etc. in recognition of the fact that there are excellent, award-worthy books that for whatever reason are not on two of the big 2013 fiction long- and short-lists (the Giller and the Rogers Writers' Trust). This will hopefully do a little to enhance their visibility. One book put forward is not in our database: The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton (nominated for this year's Man Booker). Update: The Lion Seeker got nominated for the GGs after this list was made.
