Description
Wigmore on Cannabis is an indispensable and definitive source book for medical and legal practitioners seeking relevant information about cannabis, a drug that has been recently legalized in many jurisdictions. Well-known forensic toxicologist James G. Wigmore has abstracted, organized, and edited over 550 studies on the human forensic toxicology of tetrahydrocannabinol and other cannabinoids found in marijuana to produce a practical and highly comprehensible book for experts and lay people alike. Using accessible tables to illustrate the differences — and surprising similarities — between the medicolegal effects of alcohol and cannabis, Wigmore on Cannabis will be a valuable resource in both scientific and legal libraries.
About the author
James G. Wigmore has worked as a forensic toxicologist for over 29 years at one of the foremost forensic laboratories in North America — the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto, Ontario. He has testified in over 700 criminal cases throughout Canada and in numerous personal injury civil cases and coroner’s inquests. He has published over seventy scientific articles in forensic toxicology that have been cited by the Supreme Court of Canada and the High Court of South Africa. James has been interviewed numerous times on the CBC and other media on the issues arising out of the legalization of cannabis in Canada and on vaping. He was on Health Canada’s expert panel on public information regarding cannabis. He received the prestigious Derome Award from the Canadian Society of Forensic Sciences for his outstanding contributions to the field of forensic science. His book series on the medicolegal aspects of alcohol, cannabis, and nicotine has received international acclaim.
Editorial Reviews
“Wigmore has extensively assessed peer-reviewed scientific literature on the human forensic toxicology of tetrahydrocannabinol and other cannabinoids found in marijuana (cannabis). In this book, he presents over 550 of the approximately 5,000 studies he examined. . . . Medical and legal practitioners will find this an indispensable tome with up-to-date scientific evidence related to cannabis and its use. Academic law libraries will also benefit from having this practical book in their collections, as it emphasizes the depth of analysis that has been undertaken and will continue to be required as new cannabis-related issues arise in our courts.”
