Description

Mourre's short stories are marked with the wry awareness of authentic prairie people - their bluntness, honesty and dishevelled truths. Set against extended metaphors of seeding, harvesting, seasonal migration, and the implacable forces of nature, Helen Mourre's fiction quietly takes its place in the front row of western Canadian realism.

About the author

Helen Mourre is the author of two previous books of short fiction: Landlocked and What's Come Over Her (both published by Thistledown Press), which were finalists in the Saskatchewan Book Awards. She has served on the boards of both the Saskatchewan Writers Guild and the Sage Hill Writing Experience, and has been a University of Saskatchewan senator. A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Helen has taught creative writing at community colleges and has edited publications such as Spring and Windscript. Her stories have been broadcast on CBC radio and published in journals across Canada. She lives with her husband Paul in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, Canada, is the mother of two sons and one daughter, and a grandmother of six. When she is not writing, she gardens, curls, goes for long walks, and volunteers her time with liturgical music and choir, and various other community organizations.
