Author Jamie Fitzpatrick has always felt a strong connection with music, particularly during his teen years. The songs and artist he liked help develop his sense of self, often forming the basis for his friendships and interactions. In These Memories Can’t Wait Fitzpatrick shares some of his defining moments involving song, including his attempt at connecting with his first crush through a favourite tune and attempting to fit in at university. Moments when the music didn’t speak to him, it spoke for him.

Jamie Fitzpatrick’s first novel, You Could Believe in Nothing (Vagrant Press), has been called “a fast-moving, unsentimental look at amateur hockey, masculinity, mid-life crisis, drink, drugs and family secrets … brisk, engaging and, in the end, very moving” (Globe and Mail). His writing has also appeared in The New Quarterly, St. John’s Telegram, Newfoundland Quarterly and the 2013 Cuffer Anthology (forthcoming). He lives in St. John’s.
