The Red, Forgiving Earth describes what happened after critically acclaimed author Tasneem Jamal and her husband gave up their secure and well-paying jobs as Globe and Mail editors and moved with their two young daughters to Tanzania. They had planned to leave everything behind and follow their passions, but in the months that followed, their lives spiralled into free fall. Pitched as an Eat, Pray, Love for the rest of us, The Red, Forgiving Earth describes the many challenges overcome by Jamal and her family as they tried so hard to live out their long-held fantasy of throwing over their lives and realizing their dreams.

TASNEEM JAMAL was born in Mbarara, Uganda, and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1975. She has worked as a journalist for over a decade as an editor at The Globe and Mail, Saturday Night magazine and the National Post. She has written fiction and non-fiction for the Toronto Review of Contemporary Writing Abroad, The Globe and Mail, Saturday Night magazine, the National Post and the Literary Review of Canada. She lives in Kitchener with her husband and two daughters.
