Excerpt: The Office Legends: Christmas Gifts (by (author) Lana Guzman; photographs by Edgar Guzman)

It was December, the month when gifts start arriving in packs of many at a time for many people at a time. The company was a high-end spirits manufacturer, an old one too, very established, and catering to the type of market that like to be pampered in every sense of the word. The salesmen of the company, of which there were at least a full hundred, were expected to be "sensitive" to all those "requests" of their immediate customers. The latter were high-end liquor stores, some of them were independent, others were chain stores. A few women worked at the company's sales department, but they were few and, according to the company CEO, were "kept on staff" to satisfy the needs of the small female clientele who were few, but were still important to the business from the point of view of "gender equality". The latter was no more than a simple hypocrisy, yet it also had other, less subtle significance, such as that of tax credit at the end of a fiscal year.
