Navigating the social stratosphere of high school is an inescapable rite of passage for most teens. The politics of growing up are rarely easy and Katie Ingram found herself somewhere in the middle — neither the bullied loner nor part of the popular clique. Her unwillingness to rock the boat yet eagerness to relieve herself of mean-girl friends, placed her in an unhappy state of limbo for many years. Like many of her peers, she lived under the oppressive fear of being at the bottom, too afraid to defy the unspoken rules. Ingram’s journey is one that will resonate with many teen readers.
