About the author

Dorothy Pedersen has worked in various facets of the horse industry for over 20 years. An award-winning writer and public speaker, she holds an honours diploma in equine studies, as well as a certificate of horsemanship. After having her own horses stolen in 1992, Dorothy undertook extensive research into horse theft. She has continued to investigate this crime, including its prevention and detection, ever since. Her articles on horse and livestock theft have been published throughout North America, and in 1996 she provided information to the Ontario Provincial Police that helped them create a livestock database. Dorothy lives in Grand Valley, Ontario, and owns a fully retired horse.
