About the authors
Lorna Crozier, one of Canada's most celebrated poets, has read from her work on every continent. She has received numerous awards, including the Governor General's Award, for her fifteen books of poetry, which include The Blue Hour of the Day: Selected Poems; Whetstone; Apocrypha of Light; What the Living Won't Let Go; A Saving Grace; Everything Arrives at the Light; Inventing the Hawk; Angels of Flesh, Angels of Silence; and The Garden Going On Without Us. She has also edited several anthologies, among them Desire in Seven Voices and, with Patrick Lane, Addicted: Notes from the Belly of the Beast. She lives in Saanich, BC.
As a freelance illustrator working in Toronto, Laura Watson has been creating whimsical illustrations for children's books, educational materials, magazines and various retail applications since graduating from Sheridan College's Interpretive Illustration program, in Oakville, Ontario, in 1995. Born and raised in the heart of the lovely Kawartha Lakes region in Peterborough, Ontario, Laura also studied Fine Art at York University and graduated with an Honours degree in Visual Arts.
In the past few years, Laura has enjoyed illustrating four trade children's books (most recently, Peek-a-Little Boo, written by award-winning author and poet, Sheree Fitch, and published by Orca Books) and countless school publications for subjects as diverse as poetry and math. Laura lives in the east end of Toronto with her husband, and works in a converted backyard garage studio surrounded by a slightly unkempt garden and several fat raccoons. She enjoys the outdoors, runs often and from time to time loads camping gear onto the back of her bicycle and heads off on vacation.

"This story will make babies and toddlers feel loved.. As they are being read to, they learn where baby animals live...Could be read to a boy or a girl as the gender of the baby is obscured...A good choice for a bedtime story."
"Beautifully drawn and celebrity written, with award winning poet Lorna Crozier...provid[ing] simple but rhyming text in support of Laura Watson’s illustrations. And the book is a winner, of course: who can resist baby animals? (Not me!)...Sure to delight."
"An adorable introduction to a wide variety of animal babies and where they live...This book is sure to delight babies and toddlers as they recognize beloved animals and are exposed to new favourites. This is the perfect story to be read and reread as you travel around the world seeing the smallest examples of all the species and always ending with a warm message of love for the baby right in front of you. As if the simple, rhyming couplets in the text weren't cute enough, Laura Watson's big, bright, and colourful illustrations will melt readers' hearts...Board books are one of the first introductions a child has to books, and So Many Babies does the job of offering page after page of visually stimulating images. It's a book worth holding and contemplating (and chewing) for hours...Highly Recommended."
