Librarian Reviews
R.M. Patterson: A Life of Great Adventure
Meticulously researched and adeptly written, this is a biography of an adventurer and writer, a southern Alberta homesteader, rancher and prisoner of war. Patterson lived in a time when wilderness adventures were daring expeditions in Canada’s Northern Frontier. The author incorporates the subject’s wry sense of humour into his lively stories. Patterson’s adventure some spirit resonates throughout his journal excerpts and letters home to his mother and friends in England. A quick learner, hard worker, smart businessman and good storyteller, Patterson was able to support his adventures through wise investments. While adventuring and raising a family, Patterson also published 18 works in his lifetime.Finch has written 12 historical books including Legendary Horseman: Images of Canadian West.
