Sandra Tomsons is associate professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Winnipeg. She has been teaching for over 35 years and has written a number of papers and book chapters on the issue of Aboriginal rights. Her research focuses on Aboriginal philosophies and justice, and she has organized several conferences and given many presentations on the subject. This is her first full-length book project.

Lorraine Mayer is associate professor in the Department of Native Studies at Brandon University. She is acting editor of the Canadian Journal of Native Studies and has published many articles on Native culture and rights. Her book, Cries from a Metis Heart, chronicles the stories of several Metis women, including her own.
