Description
Together and apart, the poet A. F. Moritz and the artist Ludwig Zeller enact the search for meaning within a shattered mechanical universe. The poem is present as well in a Spanish translation by Susana Wald, who has also conducted an interview with the poet and artist.
About the authors
A.F Moritz was born in Niles, Ohio in 1947 and educated at Marquette University. He is a recepient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and is one of Canada’s most celebrated contemporary poets. Moritz has published over fifteen books of poetry and has received many accolades for his works. These include a Canada Council Fellowship, a ReLit Award and the prestigious Griffin Poetry Prize in 2009. Moritz is also a recent nominee of the Governor General’s Award for Poetry in English. He currently lives in Toronto and teaches at Victoria College, University of Toronto.
Ludwig Zeller is prominent in both Latin American poetry and international surrealism. Before coming to Canada in 1971, he was curator of the Chilean Ministry of Education Art Gallery (1952 $#150; 1970). His poetry publications include Salvar la poesia quemar las naves (Mexico City, 1988 and 1994) and (Mexico City, 1993). Zeller has exhibited his visual art in scores of one-man and group shows throughout North America and western Europe, including at the Venice Biennale 1986). He was a featured poet at the Rotterdam International Poetry Festival (1987) and the featured poet and artist of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (1991).
