This book is a collection iof essays on the history and recent development of English Canadian Drama. Most prominent dramatists are represented in this volume; the works of Judith Thompson, George Walker, Michael Cook, David French, Dennis Foon and others are discussed in self-contained essays. This volume is subdivided into four chapters: Introduction, Providing background information, Tracing Specific Developments, and Presenting Authors and their work. It gives a kaleidoscopic overview and lends itself to discussions at the high school and university level. Albert Reiner Glaap studied English, Latin and Philosophy at the University London/England, King's College. In 1955 he was awarded a doctorate for his dissertation entitled Bishop Hall's Virgidemiarum, seen as written in imitation of Juvenal: a contribution to the beginnings of English Satire. He began his career as a teacher of English at secondary schools in Dusseldorf and Philadelphia. Since 1973 he has been Professor of English at Neuss and at Heinrich Heine University of Dusseldorf. His main fields of research have been contemporary English, Canadian and New Zealand Literature, with special emphasis on theatre and drama. Apart from his work in these fields, A-R Glapp has been involved in methodology of the teaching of language and literature and problems of literary translation. He has published numerous books and articles in all these fields, and in 1991 He was made an honorary officer of the order of the British Empire. Rolf Althof studied English, German and Educational Science at the Heinreich Hen University of Dusseldorf and at Dalhousie University where he has since taught courses on the didactics of Canadian Literature the methodology of English Language teaching and literary translation. He is also a secondary school teacher. His publications include "" Le Temps Des ideologies, the chapter about 1930 -1945 in the literary history Lees letters Europeans, and Inter-Plays, Works and Words of Writers and Critics.
