Kids Who Rule: The Remarkable Lives of Five Child Monarchs

While Cowboys and Coffin Makers covers the day-to-day lives of everyday people, Kids Who Rule: The Remarkable Lives of Five Child Monarchs details the ups and downs of the lives of boy-kings, girl-queens and baby-emperors such as Mary Queen of Scots, the Dalai Lama of Tibet and Queen Christina of Sweden. From the special sandals that allowed Tutankhamun to “walk on” his enemies to Chinese Emperor Puyi’s frequent temper tantrums, author Charis Cotter seems to include every little detail about lives of young royalty. A variety of visuals including family trees, maps, photographs, portraits and images of artifacts as well as suggestions for further reading accompany the text. This book takes kids out of the realm of homework and daily chores and into the realm of castles and chair sedans. Any child who aspires to royalty will appreciate this candid, behind-the-scenes look at these monarchs’ lives.
