VIRGINIA EDWARDS was raised in Hamilton, Ontario. She attended the University of Western Ontario and later studied for a year at John Hopkins University in Baltimore. Although she initially intended to go into pediatrics after medical school the psychiatric features of illness intrigued her. She then enrolled in the family psychiatry program at McMaster University. Since then Dr. Edwards has been a lecturer at the University of Toronto, a consultant to the Scarborough School Board and Chief of Child Psychiatry at the Toronto East General Hospital. She currently operates her own private psychiatric practice in Toronto, Ontario. She is a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has also been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada since 1971.
