Description
Undercover detective Jack Taggart infiltrates a Mexican drug cartel while investigating the disappearance of a young Canadian woman.
Lily Rae is on holiday in El Paso, Texas, when she’s kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel. El Paso borders on one of the most dangerous places in the world: Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, a city in the grip of a drug war. Going undercover to investigate her disappearance, detective Jack Taggart manages to penetrate the organization after discovering a Canadian link to the cartel.
Taggart is sent to El Paso, where he is partnered with U.S. Customs special agent John Adams. Neither Taggart nor Adams know they have been paired for a secret purpose.
Even though Taggart has strict orders to stay out of Juarez, his gut instinct tells him the answers — and possibly Lily herself — lie across the border. Still, the investigation seems to be going smoothly, until a leak threatens to expose Jack to the murderous cartel.
Practically torn from the headlines, Birds of a Feather will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you questioning right and wrong.
About the author
Don Easton spent his career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as an undercover operative who worked in foreign countries. He lives in Victoria, British Columbia.
Don Easton's premise for writing this novel came from personal experience. He was a former RCMP undercover operative who had been sent to El Paso where his investigation then took him into Juarez. Some of the events in this novel are shocking, made even more so when told by someone who has been there. Birds of a Feather is Easton's sixth Jack Taggart Mystery, following Loose Ends, Above Ground, Angel in the Full Moon, Samurai Code, and Dead Ends.
Editorial Reviews
Birds of a Feather is an adrenaline-spiked story with race car–style pacing and a tension filled plot. Author Easton tells his well-researched stories with such blunt, bold passion that you really wonder where the line between fiction and reality lies.
Hamilton Spectator
Birds of a Feather is filled with moments of sheer terror that will keep the readers turning pages faster and faster as it builds.
Bookgasm
This frightening picture of Canada's favourite winter holiday place is strengthened by the fact that Don Easton is a former undercover cop who was sent to El Paso, where his investigations led him across the border to [Ciudad-Juarez]. Reality talks.

Birds of a Feather
I really enjoy Don Easton's gritty police novels. A former undercover RCMP officer himself, the author includes details that only those "on the inside" could know and understand. Fast action, satisfying conclusion.Other titles by
