About the author
Lloyd Abbey was born in London, Ontario on April 4, 1943 and grew up in rural Ontario. Educated at McMaster, Western, and the University of Toronto, he worked for many years as a professor, most recently in the English Department at the University of Toronto. For several years he has done intensive research on whales and a novel on whales and whaling will be published in 1990 by Grove Press and Random House of Canada. Since 1959 he has been publishing poems, stories, reviews and critical essays in major journals in the USA and Canada. He lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he writes full-time.
