A publication to accompany an exhibition of video works which propose an encounter between still and moving images while at the same time creating an impression of narrative generated by the subtlety of the artist's montage.A Canadian artist born in Rotterdam, Wyn Geleynse has stood out for more than twenty-five years for his use of film and video images in installations, sometimes even incorporating photographic images. His stagings of images are constructed around the concept of memory without, however, making it entirely possible to grasp their content. The short fictional stories he creates can only leave the viewer asking for more in the face of their lack of narrative completion. The exhibition Pas de côté, curated by Sylvain Campeau, nevertheless reveals a new aesthetic approach in the artist's work. The installation aspect has been eclipsed somewhat, giving rise to projections of more imposing dimensions. __Ces œuvres vidéographiques propose un chassé-croisé entre image fixe et image animée, tout en créant une impression narrative générée par la subtilité du montage.Artiste canadien originaire de Rotterdam, aux Pays-Bas, Wyn Geleynse se démarque depuis plus de vingt cinq ans par son exploitation de l'image filmique et vidéographique dans un cadre installatif, intégrant parfois même des images photographiques. Ses mises en scène d'images sont construites en référence à la notion de souvenir, sans toutefois permettre d'en saisir complètement le contenu. Les courtes histoires fictionnelles ainsi créées ne peuvent que laisser le spectateur pantois devant l'absence d'un aboutissement narratif. L'exposition Inférences narratives, organisée par le commissaire Sylvain Campeau, offre cependant à voir une nouvelle approche esthétique dans le travail de l'artiste. De fait, le caractère installatif s'estompe quelque peu, laissant place à des projections aux dimensions plus imposantes.
