Description

What happens when the dream dies with a partner? Three years after Peter and Glenora Doherty embarked on their dream of sailing the world, Peter passed away suddenly. Glenora not only lost him, but she also lost her cruising lifestyle and her live-aboard home. This uplifting book provides practical and comforting advice to anyone who has lost a spouse with helpful Steps to Survival and suggestions for planning ahead.

About the author

Glenora Doherty, B.Ed., has sailed over 30,000 nautical miles aboard the Reliance 44 ketch, Wanderlust V, which she and her family built from a bare hull, and has served as crew on other offshore boats. Wanderlust V gained international recognition due to Peter’s popularity with cruising SSB nets in Mexico and due to the Cruising World Magazine articles Glenora wrote about their knockdown in Hurricane Marty in 2003. Glenora is the Past Commodore of Bluewater Cruising Association and served as editor of the Association’s newsletter, Currents, for six years. She sings with Vancouver’s fabulous show chorus, the Maple Leaf Singers; and volunteers as Administrator for New Beginnings Community Church. She lives in her own home, ‘Wanderer’s Rest’, in Surrey, BC, where she enjoys hosting family and friends.

Editorial Reviews

“Author Glenora Doherty is not only an experienced offshore sailor, but also a deeply spiritual woman who tells the candid story of her courageous journey beyond the loss of her husband to hope. I was saddened, moved and uplifted. For anyone who has ever loved and lost, this book is a must.”- Catherine Dook, Author of Darling, Call the Coast Guard We’re on Fire Again; Damn to Torpedoes; and Offshore
