Description

We all want to live more healthily and ethically. This book is not just for vegans; it’s for anyone who is curious about veganism, its principles and what even non-vegans can learn from its practice.

According to reports, the number of vegans in the UK has more than quadrupled since 2014 and with the rise in plant-based foods and cruelty-free products showing no sign of stopping, Think Like a Vegan is a timely exploration of how vegan ethics can be applied to every area of our lives.

Through a personal and often irreverent lens, the authors explore a variety of contemporary topics related to animal use. From the basics of vegan logic to politics, economics, love and other aspects of being human, each chapter draws you into a thought-provoking conversation about your daily ethical decisions that will open your eyes to a new way of living in a plant-powered world.

Editorial Reviews

"A brilliant book, which both challenges and inspires thoughts on ethics and the environment, and offers fresh, new thinking on why veganism is not just a diet but a potent social act." — Seth Tibbott, Chair and Founder of famously vegan brand Tofurky and author of In Search of the Wild Tofurky

"A must-have book for any vegan at any stage in their journey, and above all a terrific read for anyone looking to learn more about veganism." — Kuntal A. Joisher, vegan mountaineer

"A well-researched contemporary guidebook to vegan ethics … Approachable, accessible, personal, and irreverent … This updated version is an essential resource for readers at any stage in their vegan journey … I hope this inspirational and future-looking book enjoys a broad global audience." — Marc Bekoff, Ph.D., University of Colorado, author of The Emotional Lives of Animals

"Think Like a Vegan is sprinkled with thought experiments and challenges. Got a vegan elevator pitch? The stakes couldn’t be higher. The production of land and marine animal products is rapidly crowding untamed life off our planet. Global heating looks poised to unleash its worst. We can step up, if we learn quickly enough how to think like a vegan." — Lee Hall, author of On Their Own Terms

"An extraordinary guide that challenges readers to rethink their relationship with animals, the environment, and each other … seamlessly connects the dots between ethics, environmental sustainability, and social justice, showing that veganism is not just a dietary choice but a comprehensive worldview … not just informative, but transformative … Think Like a Vegan isn’t just a book you read – it’s a journey you embark on, guided by Emilia and Eva’s wisdom and their deep commitment to creating a future where compassion is at the forefront of our choices." — Renee King-Sonnen, Founder & Executive Director of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary

"Think Like a Vegan explores the logic behind veganism in exquisite detail … It’s a fascinating read for vegans and non-vegans alike." — KJ Serafin, author of No Need to Apologize

"Lately, there has been a lot of talk about vegan and plant-based diets. But what exactly are those? What’s the difference between the two, if any? Why even bother following vegan or plant-based diets? Veganism, if done right, can be beneficial to human health, to the animals, and to the environment. In this fabulous and comprehensive page-turner of a book, Think Like A Vegan, Emilia A. Leese and Eva J. Charalambides will answer the above-mentioned questions and more. They will, most importantly, if you read this book in its entirety, show you why it is of utmost importance to be or become a vegan and will explain to you how to do it." — Dr. Carlo Alvaro, Associate Professor of Philosophy at New York City College of Technology

"Both personal and intellectual, this book is a must-read for those new to or those considering embracing veganism or a plant-based diet. For a seasoned vegan like myself, the book is a powerful reminder of the moral and ethical importance of veganism. To borrow from the book, like veganism, this book is for everyone." — Professor Stacy Banwell, University of Greenwich

"An invaluable compendium of resources for both avowed vegans and those who are ready to adopt a vegan ethic and lifestyle. Given the urgent ecological necessity for a global vegan transformation, the comprehensive practical thought experiments at the end of the book are sure to be well thumbed by the discerning reader." — Sailesh Rao, founder and executive director of Climate Healers

"Whether you eat animals or not, this book will likely make you question some of your long-held beliefs and assumptions about veganism, animal use and injustice. The case that this book makes for a vegan world is watertight and irrefutable." — Polly Foreman, editor at Plant Based News
