Description

When a young witch tells Elena that a group of humans are kidnapping supernaturals, Elena ignores the warning. After all, everyone knows there’s no such thing as witches. As for the thought of other ‘supernaturals’, well, she’d just rather not dwell on the possibility. Soon, however, she’s confronted with the truth about her world, when she’s kidnapped and thrown into a cell-block with witches, sorcerers, half-demons and other werewolves. As Elena soon discovers, dealing with her fellow captives is the least of her worries. In this prison, the real monsters carry the keys.
Book 2 in the Otherworld series.

Contributor Notes

Kelley Armstrong lives in rural Ontario with her husband, three children and far too many pets. She is the author of Bitten, the first novel featuring Elena Michaels.

A strong follow up to Bitten

Stolen is a strong follow up to Bitten, the first book in Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series. The story is again told from the perspective of Elena Michaels, the world's only known female werewolf. Elena continues to grow, as does the richness of the world created by Armstong.

In addition to werewolves, in Stolen, we are introduced to other supernaturals like witches, vampires, and half-demons. Again, Armstrong makes each of these seem fresh, but definitely keeps traditional lore in sight relating to each of these beings.

In Stolen, Elena finds herself a captive, along with other supernaturals, and it seems that someone wants to find out just how much power these individuals have. Separated from her pack, Elena must find a way to escape, but also help the others around her if she can, and find out who is at the bottom of this, and more importantly, what they really want.

Several interesting new characters are introduced in Stolen, including Paige Winterbourne, a young witch who becomes the focal character in the next book in the Women of the Otherworld series, Dime Store Magic. When Elena first meets Paige, it seems the two women are a study in contrasts. Paige appears soft and feminine, although it becomes obvious later that behind this exterior is a strong, intelligent woman, willing to take risks in order to help the captive individuals, and to find out who is responsible for taking them in the first place.
