Description
Well-known children's writer Norene Smiley's delightful prose and award-winning illustrator Brenda Jones's vibrant illustrations combine to bring the wonder of imaginative play to life. The quirky pictorial elements and interplay between real life and fantasy will make Simon and Catapult Man a winner with children, while teachers and librarians will appreciate the playground safety theme and related activity.
About the authors
Brenda Jones has spent years roaming the woods and fields across Canada, gathering and studying the herbs that live here in order to better understand the properties of these amazing plants. With a background as an artist and illustrator, she began painting each herb in detail to help with identification, and eventually published her first herb book, Medicinal Herbs of Eastern Canada. She has now completed the Western version, and continues to expand her own backyard herb garden, filling her cupboards with tinctures, oils, and herbal teas.
Norene Smiley is the author of That Stripy Cat. In the winter, Norene writes stories, teaches writing, paints big paintings, and dreams of making short films. The Stripy Cat, Perfectly Peppy will be released in 2009. She now lives in the village of Pugwash, Nova Scotia where she and her husband make soup and muffins in the Chatterbox Café.
