Description
A princess fleeing an arranged marriage teams up with a snarky commoner to foil a rebel plot in B.R. Myers' Rogue Princess, a gender-swapped sci-fi YA retelling of Cinderella.
Princess Delia knows her duty: She must choose a prince to marry in order to secure an alliance and save her failing planet. Yet she secretly dreams of true love, and feels there must be a better way. Determined to chart her own course, she steals a spaceship to avoid the marriage, only to discover a handsome stowaway.
All Aidan wanted was to “borrow” a few palace trinkets to help him get off the planet. Okay, so maybe escaping on a royal ship wasn’t the smartest plan, but he never expected to be kidnapped by a runaway princess!
Sparks fly as this headstrong princess and clever thief battle wits, but everything changes when they inadvertently uncover a rebel conspiracy that could destroy their planet forever.
About the author
Always in the mood for a good scare, B. R. MYERS spent most of her teen years behind the covers of Lois Duncan, Ray Bradbury and Stephen King. She is the author of nine YA books. Her contemporary coming-of-age novel Girl on the Run was a CCBC Best Book for Teens pick in 2016. Her most recent publication, Rogue Princess, was chosen by the School Library Journal as one of the Top Ten Best Audiobooks. When not putting her characters in precarious situations, B. R. Myers works as a registered nurse. A member of the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia, she lives in Halifax with her family—and there is still a stack of books on her bedside table.
Editorial Reviews
"In this futuristic Cinderella reimagining, ... Myers introduces new elements with her interstellar setting and political intrigue. The slow-burning relationship between Aidan and Delia plays well against the high stakes and late revelations, ... An enjoyable interpretation of an old favorite."—Publishers Weekly
"Readers who enjoy sci-fi, especially Marissa Meyer’s “Lunar Chronicles” series, will be charmed by Aidan and Delia. A fun and imaginative space adventure with a modern fairy tale twist." —School Library Journal: XpressReviews
"Delightful...a unique and fun retelling that I won't forget." —Nerd Daily
"What's not to love? A galaxy where a butt-kicking, rebellious princess of a failing planet has to marry in order to save her people; a thieving, orphaned chore boy from the Dark District who falls in love with the princess; pirates; dastardly plots—all come together for a swoonworthy read." —Booklist Online
