Description
A young woman of mixed European and First Nations heritage, Selena is trying to find her way in the modern world. It isn't easy. Where does she belong? With whom? In the interwoven stories that make up River Child, author Eleanor Millard leads us through the maze of experiences that women of mixed ancestry face in finding their place in the world.
In a larger sense, being an "outsider" affects us all, whether we live in the small community of Dawson City, Yukon, where these stories take place, or in the large metropolitan areas of Toronto and Vancouver. With an eye for place, people and time, Millard recreates the story of Selena, Child of the River.
About the author

She was also elected as a member of the Yukon Territorial Government and served as Minister of Education. She presently lives in Carcross, Yukon.
