Description
So begins the next adventure for Susan Sinclair, the young Guardian of the Crystal of the North, who, by the power of her magical crystal, suddenly finds herself in the heart of ancient Egypt. But restoring balance within the Pharaoh’s palace isn’t as easy as Susan might wish.
Political webs of mystery surround her, magical elements interfere with plans, and even Mother Nature interferes. Throughout her adventures, Susan comes to know such rich characters as the court magician, the son of the grand vizier, and the current Pharaoh, Tuthmoses II.
Susan Sinclair is brave, curious, and up for any challenge. With resilience and a willingness to learn, she fearlessly works to help the people of Egypt regain a sense of balance amid turmoil. But will her courage be a match for the thrilling adventure that has drawn her to ancient Egypt?
The second book in G. Rosemary Ludlow’s exciting Crystal Journals series, Pharaoh’s Tomb will capture the imaginations of both children and adults.

From the Author
Ancient Egypt has a culture that spanned over four thousand years and ended around two thousand years ago. What this means is that you could read a vast amount about Ancient Egypt, and it wouldn't agree with the time to which Susan traveled. For example, there are no pyramids in this story. Susan never sees a pyramid, and yet for a large part of Egyptian history, they were a very important part of life.
Some of the names I have used have become the most common words in our time, but were actually introduced by later Greek pharaohs. In fact Pharaoh is a Greek term for the king but has become so common that I have used it here. Nile is also the Greek name for the great river which features so prominently in all Ancient Egyptian history.
Tuthmoses I is, they believe, the first pharaoh to be buried in the Valley of the Kings. So that the tomb Susan visits and the tomb of this story is only the second one to be dug in the valley. Research and exploration is still ongoing in Egypt. They often find new tombs or decipher a newly found manuscript, which can offer new insights into a life. At the time of this writing, nobody knows for sure how Tuthmoses II died.
What I have tried to convey in Susan's adventures is a sense of what life would have been like in the time of Tuthmoses II and Hatshepsut. If you are interested in learning more about this period in history, there are many, many books on offer.
Editorial Reviews
Carole Kelly Apr 28, 2017 Goodreads. Carole Kelly rated it "it was amazing. I felt I was Susan and feeling all her emotions as she is trapped in Egypt and unable to return home. I enjoyed the characters even the one person I didn't really like. Egypt has always fascinated me especially during the time of the Pharaohs and the marvel of their tombs with all the passages and protection built into them. This book introduces the beginning of the crystals and their special gifts which I found quite interesting. I can't wait to see where Susan goes on her next crystal adventure!!
resourcelinks - Dec.2017 (Leslie Vermeer) Pharaoh’s Tomb picks up immediately where A Rare Gift leaves off. In the opening chapter, Susan is meeting with Mrs. Coleman, the previous keeper of the crystal. With somewhat greater understanding of how the crystal works and what it’s meant to do, Susan is whisked away to Ancient Egypt, where her crystal disappears entirely. A Rare Gift and Pharaoh’s Tomb are good picks.

Rosemary Ludlow has once again written a riveting book in the further adventures of Susan Sinclair, a gusty, brash girl who is given a crystal which propels her into travels back in time. This time the magic crystal takes Susan to Egypt where the fun continues. I have been fascinated by ancient Egypt since grade school and I loved this book not just for the finely drawn characters but also for the delicious tidbits of history of ancient Egypt? youth braids , how tombs were 'booby trapped' to discourage theft, papyrus boats, scrolls, and ornate jewelry. Pharaoh's Tomb is well researched and contains a number of intriguing details about the culture and society of ancient Egypt.
