Description
Pattern Makers, the surreal journey of three women and a spider, is equally "fantastical, epic and allegorical." Yvonne first moves into her refrigerator in her own short story in Baker's Dozen: Short Stoies by Women. For some time she has been content if not cramped decorating and furnishing her fridge, passing out food to her family on request.
Pattern Makers begins when Yvonne's refrigerator turns to sand. With only her own unexplored powers, not even a map or credit card, Yvonne is forced to face new territory and herself. Through a fantasy that never forgets how much women give up of themselves, Duncan weaves an incredible saga of women's journeys toward healing and wholeness. She never strays from the double-edged wit that makes Pattern Makers a thought-provoking and entertaining story of transformation.
