"It's a story that elevates the everyday to the poignant, using a protagonist with a singularly clear voice who knows exactly how much he's willing to say. It's the work of an author with a full grip on scene and place, but who's also careful and skilled enough not to spoil it all by deciding to explain everything and clutter the story in the process."
