About the authors
Hélène Devarennes is from Moncton, NB. She was one of the senior writers of New Brunswick's policy "Linguistic and Cultural Development Policy — A Societal Project for the French Education System". Devarennes is particularly aware of how stories shape the cultural identity of children. As an educator and an author, she creates pedagogical resources for early childhood development and First Nations communities. She published the album Le chandail de Chéticamp in 2016 and the award-winning trilingual picture book Une journée poney! Pemkiskhahk?ciw ahahsis! A Pony Day!, published in 2018.

Omar Al-Hafidh is a Toronto based illustrator, originally from Baghdad, Irak. He graduated with high honours from Sheridan College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts (animation). Growing up, drawing was always an essential tool for his self-expression and his identity. Most of his paintings offer glimpses of his childhood and imagination. As a child, he also wanted to be a secret agent like James Bond and so gave himself a secret agent number (206). Al-Hafidh's work has been recognized and published in the Middle East and he's previously illustrated two books, Through a Mud Wall Million and Star Hotel, by Rana Azzoubi.
