Description
Gary Spearin's art unites binary conditions in both its process and concepts. He employs additive and subtractive methods on his canvases, leaving traces of an action. As many as fifty different tubes of colours are mixed directly on a canvas, creating a mirage of colours that are opaque and dense with texture. The combing technique pulls paint off the canvas, leaving layers of transparent residue. The evolution of the painting takes place directly on the canvas and is not reworked. Writer: Ihor Holubizky.
