Description

Part meditation, part confession, part comedy bit, The Loneliness Machine—Aaron Giovannone’s first full-length collection of poetry—is a strikingly new rendition of the trope of the suffering artist that takes dramatic risks and rarely fails to charm.

About the Author
Aaron Giovannone's first book of poetry is The Loneliness Machine (2013). His poems have been published widely in journals across Canada and the US, and his non-fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in The Walrus, Brick, and Vice. Originally from St. Catharines, Ontario, Aaron has a Ph.D. in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Calgary and has lived in Italy, including a year as a visiting scholar at the University of Siena. Aaron splits his time between Calgary and the Okanagan Valley, where he teaches literature and writing at Okanagan College.

Editorial Review

“With Wordsworthian ease and Conner family grit, Aaron Giovannone’s Loneliness Machine is a most welcome debut. Funny, heartfelt, edging itself where social media and poetry meet, a voice emerges that is tender, aware, and always attuned to the craft.”—David McGimspey, author of Sitcom and Li’l Bastard
