About the author

Sara Berkeley was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1967 and produced her first "novel" at the age of eight. During her teens she came to the attention of Dermot Bolger, who encouraged her writing and published her early work in 1984. Educated at a convent, she went on to study German and English at Trinity College, University of Dublin. Her first collection of poetry, Penn was published in 1986 by Raven Arts Press to critical acclaim, being shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards and the Sunday Tribune Arts Awards
