Sophie is jumping with joy. She's bringing her mom to the beach for a well-deserved break. Of course, everything needs to be prepared: games, parasols, sunscreen, driving there. Then, at the beach, small problems arise that gets in the way of relaxation: gusts of wind and moods, stinging sand and jelly fish, and bathroom calls.

But Sophie persists. After all, mom deserves a break.

Nicole Poirier is from Chéticamp, Nova Scotia, and resides in New Brunswick. Forever engaged with children, these stories draw from her experiences as a kindergarten teacher, a counsellor and a mother. She also created the character of Nico who tells stories and hosts meetings with children. Congé pour Sophie is her third book with Bouton d?or Acadie and is in some ways a reply to Congé pour maman.

From Dieppe, New-Brunswick, Isabelle Léger is passionate about illustration. She attended the visual arts program of the University of Moncton, then graduated with a diploma in graphic design at the Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick — campus de Dieppe. She designs many projects for Bouton d'or Acadie, and she was noticed for her funny and touching style in her first professional publication, Congé pour maman (2018).
