C is for Chinook is her first children's book. Dawn now lives on a ranch in Southern Alberta and looks forward to traveling the province to share this book with children and educators. Lorna Bennett attended Grant MacEwan Community College and the University of Alberta in the Arts/Fine Arts program. She has worked as a ski instructor, designer, writer, illustrator, and animator. Her previous children's picture books include Sandwiches for Duke and Dot to Dot in the Sky. Lorna has toured with the Young Alberta Book Society's Chrysalis Festival, teaching art in elementary schools. She makes her home in Edmonton, Alberta.

About the authors

Dawn Welykochy was born and raised in Calgary and has a lifelong passion for storytelling and the outdoors. Her first children's book, C is for Chinook, was published in 2004. Dawn and her family now live on a ranch in Southern Alberta, where the land and wildlife at her doorstep constantly inspire her.

Charles Bullshields is an artist from the Blood Tribe, a member of the Blackfoot Confederacy. Charles is self taught and uses his artwork to reflect and keep in touch with Native heritage and traditions. He was born in Cardston, Alberta, and now lives in Standoff, Alberta.

Lorna Bennett was born in Edmonton AB and took an early interest in the arts through music, dance and drawing. She attended Grant MacEwan Community College and the University of Alberta in Arts/Fine Arts. After working for many years as a designer/illustrator for the Alberta Forest Service and Environmental Protection, she left to pursue a career in the publishing industry doing children's picture books and novel covers. Many of Lorna's books have been nominated or shortlisted for major awards.
