Description
Exploring biblical principles with insights and observations based on recent developments. The Bible is neither a simple user's manual, nor a catalogue of virtues and saintly characters to imitate. So why bother with it? Because, as Vogels demonstrates in this book, the Bible contains fundamental life principles, attitudes and values that point us in a certain direction. Together they challenge each one of us to become fully human in all of our relationships. Vogels believes that human beings exist through a triple relationship: to God, to other people and to creation. Therefore, to live according to the Bible demands openness to God, solidarity with others and a respect for nature. This book is divided into three sections, each exploring one of these principles. In this new edition, Vogels adds new insights and observations based on recent developments in Bible scholarship, and on our even more fragile environment.
