Sam and Simon are saved from the most boring summer ever when a movie crew comes to town!

Sam and Simon, intrepid heroes and charter members of The Bat Club (Bats and Burglars, 2000), are back with another hilarious adventure. This time Sam's street becomes a location for a movie shoot, and when the boys find out that their favorite kid actor is the star, they are hopping with excitement. Sam and Simon manage not only to meet the star and take him home for lunch, but get themselves cast as extras!

But the boys soon find that being part of a movie isn't all that it's cracked up to be. There's waiting, waiting and more waiting, and soon Sam and Simon wish they hadn't been so eager to worm their way onto the set. Fortunately the boys have a talent for attracting trouble. Before they know it, they're in the middle of a real-life drama...and they have to pull off the stunt of their lives.

A fast-paced and fun story for young readers ready for chapter books, Bats Out of the Window is a great stand-alone adventure as well as a worthy successor to Bats and Burglars.

Editorial Reviews

"...a beginning reader mystery with definite child appeal...The crisp and sometime sarcastic dialogue and unintentional misbehavior of the boys are so typical."
- CM Magazine

"This story has a very straightforward, simple plot, with good use of limited vocabulary. True to the series title, First Flight, most readers just beginning to tackle a full chapter book will find this one relatively easy to read."
- ResourceLinks

" action-packed adventure that's also a perfect transition book for young readers who are ready to move from picture books to chapter books...Jennings seems to have a strong sense of how kids' minds work and what interests them, and that comes through in her clear writing style and fast-paced action. Mardon's illustrations add to that sense of action and provide excellent visual clues for readers just moving up to the chapter-book level. We look forward to seeing more of Sam and Simon."
- The Hamilton Spectator, Jan 19, 02
