About the authors
Georgina Olivere Queller: Childless and now dogless she has run out of excuses for not doing things. A member of the Guild since the beginning of the last decade of the last century, she likes to read, write, play games online, and spend time with her friends; all of which she does in an obsessive manner. She is a co-editor of A Charm Against the Pain.

Roberta Buchannan was born in South Africa, educated in England, and immigrated to Canada in 1964. She lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and teaches women’s studies and English literature at Memorial University. She is actively involved in the local feminist community and in various writers’ groups, including the Writer’s Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Newfoundland Writer’s Guild.
She co-wrote and performed in The Meeting (feminist satire and performance poetry) produced by east coast women and words: performed “Kali Poems” in Actordanz (Neighborhood Dance Works) and made a guest appearance with “Tomato Poem” in Live Soap, directed by Janice Spence: all at the L.S.P.U. Hall in St. John’s.

Geraldine Chafe Rubia is the eldest daughter of the late Arnold Chafe of Goulds and Mary Margaret “Molly” McDonald of Kilbride. She is a former president of the Newfoundland Writers’ Guild, and she continues to write poetry, plays, and prose. She has won awards in each category and is published in periodicals and anthologies. Her plays have been performed on stage and on CBC radio. With the Longside Club she has initiated performing arts opportunities for persons with disabilities. She is co-editor of From This Place and has published two books of poetry, A Poem in My Soup and Skating Among the Graves. In 2008 she co-edited the anthology A Charm Against the Pain. Geraldine Chafe Rubia resides in St. John’s.
