2nd Site spotlights the diverse talents of three artists who were born, raised or reside in Durham Region. Arists Jennifer Murphy, Tony Romano and Colin Stark present works which engage a gamut of issues relating to place, "bricolage" and anxiety. Jennifer Murphy reinterprets ecological and metaphysical symbols found in popular culture through her collage works. Tony Romano's video installation infers the conventions of opening and closing sequences in cinema through image/text and music. Colin Stark's series of paintings document his rudimentary constructs built in the fields and forests of the Rouge Valley. Does a specific vernacular or local "style" emerge from a shared geographical experience?
