About

Pamela J. Winsor

Pamela Winsor first taught grade 1 in New Brunswick in 1970 and has specialized in young children’s literacy development throughout her career. She is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, Mount Saint Vincent University, and the University of Illinois, Champaign–Urbana. She has taught kindergarten through grade 3, and worked as a reading specialist and as a private tutor. She is an associate professor at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in language education and supervises student teachers in practicum. Pamela’s keen interest in international teacher education has led to her involvement in development projects in Belize, Republic of the Maldives, South Africa, and Kosovo. Much of her work focuses on English language arts instruction, helping teachers develop programs of instruction that are grounded in current research and meet the many and varied instructional needs of young children. She takes great delight in watching and guiding children grow from non-readers to readers and in working with their teachers as they support their students’ learning.
