Joe Verro
Joe Verro is a retired art teacher who spent a decade working as a switchman for the CPR during the transition steam powered engines to diesel power. Verro captured the working life of railroaders in a many different mediums over his time as a railway worker. Originally from Regina, Verro now lives in Kelowna, British Columbia. Don Kerr enjoyed a distinguished teaching career at the University of Saskatchewan spanning more than forty years, and became a powerful voice for local drama, local writing, Canadian literature and Saskatchewan literary culture. He is the author of seven books of poetry, two books of fiction, three non-fiction volumes, six full-length plays and a number of one-act dramas. His books have been shortlisted for several Saskatchewan Book Awards, winning the Saskatoon Book Award for “The Garden of Art: Vic Cicansky, Sculptor”.
