LEILA J. OLFERT is a textile artist who always carries her camera with her and likes to incorporate photography into her textile pieces when possible. She and her husband of over 40 years live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and like to travel. There are many repetitive elements to be seen while driving across the Prairies, including a wide variety of grain storage bins. It was this observation that led Leila to create a Prairie counting book. Children’s books have always been an interest of hers; she was a preschool teacher once upon a time. Leila handmade several copies of this book for the children of friends and is happy that other little readers can now learn to count on the Prairies too.
