Bruce Nesbitt knew Earle Birney for more than 25 years. Dr. Nesbitt was a professor of English for nearly two decades at Simon Fraser University (where he served as Director of Canadian Studies) and at the University of Ottawa, specializing in Canadian and Commonwealth literature. Since 1985 he has been a professional writer, editor and speech writer in Ottawa and Washington, DC. He is currently researching a book on terrorist activities directed against the Loyalists during the American Revolution.
