Mansfield Mela

Mansfield Mela is a forensic psychiatrist with the Regional Psychiatric Center Saskatoon and an associate professor with the University of Saskatchewan. His research interests include the forensic aspects of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. His clinical work involves consultation and treatment of sex offenders, as well as of female and outpatient forensic patients. He has written on the interface between the law and psychiatry in the area of education. His other research interests include the forensic aspects of religiosity and spirituality, especially the application of forgiveness in reducing offending behaviour. He is currently involved in the study of propranolol in treating traumatic memories. Dr. Mela was the vice-president of the Canadian Academy of Psychiatry and Law. As a founder of the forensic psychiatry sub-specialty, he is a member of the specialty committee.
